Hyrum and I celebrated our 10 year anniversary in May and we decided to splurge and get a beach house right on the ocean and have our kids come with us. It was a week of fun and family bonding time. It was the perfect vacation for our family and as a bonus our kids did good in the long car ride. We went to Sea World one day and another day had a tour of San Diego and some of the must sees there. We had a beach day with the Hegewalds and then just played, played, played on the beach. Here are some of the highlights of our trip:
- Tommy wanting to be in the splash zone at the Shamu show and getting drenched (and getting Mom and Caroline drenched to). The trainer asked who wanted to get wet and Tommy jumped up first so he got to do the hand signals to have Shamu come straight to us. We had two inches of standing water in our shoes!
- Emily becoming a true beach baby. She could be out there all day long rolling in the sand, running to the waves, and loved going to the big waves with Hyrum.
- Going sea shell hunting every morning with Hyrum and watching Katherine slowly get more comfortable with the beach every day. The kids would come home with buckets of sea shells and play with them all day long.
- Tommy playing in the water all day long. Who knew this kid could exist without electronics? He loved boogie boarding, body surfing, and punching the waves.
- Sand castle wars. The kids would build their sand castles and then take turn throwing rocks at each others to see who's would get destroyed first.
- Making daily morning donut runs to the local donut shop and having ice cream every night.
- Caroline was in her element and could play with sand toys all day long. She loved taking long hot showers to warm up, loved sea shell hunting, and even learned to boogie board too.
