On March 30th Katherine turned 3! She had a great day fit for a three year old. Caroline had her tonsils out just a few days before her Birthday so we couldn't celebrate to much but instead took a day at home with the family. Hyrum even took the day off of work to be with her. To make her day special we had doughnuts for breakfast, her choice of McDonald's for lunch, and pizza for dinner. She got roller skates, bedding, and toys. She wanted a pink and purple cake but after having sooo many Birthdays we were sick of regular cake so I made her pound cake trifle with berries (pink) and purple tinted whip cream. We also babysat the Johnston's dog Missy for a whole week and Katherine got to the spend the day following her around and "playing" with her. Here are the things we love about Katherine:
- She is independent, curious, and confident. She gets into everything, does everything herself, and keeps us on our toys to make sure she stays alive and not destroy things.
- She is extremely vocal. She is a very loud and expressive talker. She demands your attention and acknowledgment.
- She loves her blankets. They are old, raggedy, and falling into pieces but she loves them and always has to know where they are. She will even use an straggly fallen piece to use and is the perfect size to put into her fist.
- She gets so excited whenever Hyrum comes home from work yelling over and over, "My Daddy's Home, My Daddy's Home"
- She loves Emily. She is always considerate of her and makes me get her and Emily a snack. They play well together and are each others buddy.
- She is stubborn, loud, and determined. Sometimes she is hard to handle but other times she just makes you happy and you just have to laugh at her expressive attitude.
