Venezia

Florence/Venice Day 1: Our train to Venice didn't depart until 1:00pm so we had time to get to the Bargello Museum, the Medici Chapels, Museum of San Marco, and a couple of churches.  Our train to Venice was very nice, quite, and fast.  We arrived in Venice just in time to check in to our hotel and take a sunset Grand Canal Cruise.
Venice Day 2: A full day in Venice!  We toured the Doge's Palace, St. Mark's Basilica, and did several walking tours.  The Doge's Palace was so impressive, twenty-four carat gold ceilings, artwork, wood work, and of course the next door jail.  The walking tours were so fun.  It is such a charming city and the walking tours let you wander around and enjoy the whole ambiance of the city.  One of our favorites was the outside grocery store and fish markets.  Venice for us was not crowded and I think made it for a wonderful visit!  We had an early morning flight the next day and had to wake up at 2:50am to take the early morning water taxi and bus off the island to get to the airport in time.  Venice in the middle of the night is so surreal, you really have to watch where you are going because it's pitch black and the canal have no barriers!
